Where To Host a Kids Birthday Party
When planning your child’s birthday party, it’s important to think about exactly where you’d like it to be held. Where you have your birthday party can determine many things, like the time you’ll start, how many guests you can invite, and other important aspects like food and drink options.
Trying to find the ideal birthday party venue for kids can feel like a challenge, but it doesn’t need to be stressful or difficult. As the experts in kids birthdays, we’re here to help you work out the best venue for you, and start planning a kids birthday party to remember.
Where can I have a party?
There’s a wide range of kids birthday party venues to choose from, and each has its own benefits to make them an attractive option when planning your event.
As mobile party entertainers, we’ve been to plenty of venues and have learned what works best across a range of ages. As a quick list to hopefully get some ideas going, we’d recommend venues like:
- Village halls, community centres, or church halls
- Sports clubs and leisure centres
- Pub, restaurant, or hotel function rooms
- School halls
- Your own home or garden
Some of our parties can be hosted outside, particularly in the summer months when the weather allows. In these instances, we’d suggest kids birthday party venues like:
- Public parks
- Astroturf and football pitches

Community centres and village halls
When you think of local kids birthday party venues, the humble village hall might be near the top of your list. These spaces are often among the most affordable of the bunch, and are spacious enough to house as many guests (and their parents) as you’d need.
Many village halls also offer discounted hire rates for families that live locally, so if you have a venue close to you, this could be the ideal location to host your event. They’re also a perfect assembly point for friends and family that live within the area, as your guests could even walk down to save on parking space.
Sports halls and leisure centres
These kinds of active venues offer similar amenities to village halls, but will often also have catering packages that can save you from worrying about what kind of food to serve your party guests.
This additional benefit will likely mean paying slightly more than you might for a more basic venue, but the steeper cost will come with perks that you might not find elsewhere, such as a dedicated member of staff to help you coordinate your party before and during the event.
Pub, restaurant, or hotel function rooms
While your local haunt may not necessarily seem like a natural kids birthday party venue, many of these kinds of hospitality venues have a dedicated function room to cater for exactly that.
Not only will your guests likely be familiar with a local pub or restaurant, but these spaces are also perfect for parents who bring their children along. It’s advisable that parents stick around for younger party-goers, but as your kids approach 10 and beyond, parents can relax and socialise away from the fun while your dedicated entertainer works their magic.
School halls
If you’re going for familiarity, then a school hall might just be the perfect kids party venue. It’s likely that your guests will attend the school, and so they’ll feel comfortable to unwind and run around with their friends without the uncertainty that comes with being somewhere new.
There’s also a good chance that you can hire a hall or space in the school for free, or at least at a considerably reduced rate. The party could even be hosted in the early evening after the school day ends, so the kids will already be there and ready to let loose!

Your own home or garden
For the ultimate cost-effective option, hosting your party at your own home or in your garden is a great choice. For starters, you won’t need to pay anything to hire an external space, and you won’t be limited on time before somebody else requires the venue. This means you’ll have plenty of time before the party to set up and decorate to your heart’s content – making the party area themed and fun to really add to your guest’s enjoyment.
After your DNA Kids entertainer leaves, you’ll also be able to carry on the party and socialise for as long as you’d like. If most of your guests are family and close friends, this could result in an event that continues into the evening (pending how tired your kids become!).
Outdoor spaces
Who said that a kids birthday party venue needed four walls? If you’re looking to host an outdoorsy event – like a sporty soccer party or a teddy bears picnic – an open space like a public park or sports pitch could take your event to the next level.
If it’s a public space, then there’s a good chance you won’t be paying excessive amounts to host your party there – if you’d need to pay anything at all. This might mean that other families are using the space at the same time, but for large outdoor areas, you can likely carve out a private area without disrupting anybody else.
